Infinity Euro Open 2012

My last practice session before Infinity Euro Open 2012 was mostly spent shooting moving targets.

Last practice session before Infinity 2012
My hotel room had an interesting theme:

I think I shot well on the first match day. I certainly had some good runs time-wise, and my squad-mates gave me positive feedback and applause a couple of times.

I ended up at 73%
Approved.
There’s room to do better, but it a clear improvement from last year.

Infinity Euro Open 2011

I ended up at 61.19% at the Infinity Euro Open 2011. That was far from the 70% that was my goal. Broken down into the two shooting days the stats were:

Saturday: 74,36% A, 18,46% C, 6,15% D, 1,03% M and 3 no-shoots.
My average stage score percentage for saturday was 52%
Sunday: 81,29% A, 16,13% C 1,94% D, 0,65% M and zero no-shoots.
My average stage score percentage for saturday was 60,8%

(the reason my match percentage was higher than my stage score percentage is, that I did better on the long courses, and made most mistakes on the short courses).

I should have respected the stages more on saturday, and shot more A’s. Of my two mikes on saturday, one was because I ran out of time on the triple mover, and I didn’t call the second one on a static target. My one mike on sunday was on a mini-target on a swinger. 2 of my 3 hits on no-shoots were on clamshell targets, which I obviously need to practice on.

Summing up, I only shot 5 stages at, or close to my target of 70% (saturday I shot 2 of 11 stages at around 70% Sunday it was 3 out of 7). That’s just not enough. I did miss 2 practice sessions in the week before the match due to mechanical difficulties, but that’s no excuse.

Höppner und Schumann Cup 2011

H&S cup reflections: Good: the gun ran flawlessly (as usual), I did well on the first stages. Bad: shot sloppily on stages with time pressure, earning 5 M as well as an avoidable PT. Finished at 69% – without those mistakes I would have been somewhere in the 70’ies which would have been acceptable. I need to look into getting some motor-driven movers set up, for serious practice.

World Shoot XVI selection

It seems all regions have used their full allocation of slots for the upcoming World Shoot, i.e. no extra slots for distribution. Denmark has 22 candidates for 13 slots.

And the World Shoot selection was as I expected. No snide remarks from me, I’m sure they did the best they could, and my results in 2010 weren’t all that impressive. But it looks like I should either improve my skill, switch to Production or become senior. I’d better get started on the improvement part.

Rooster Mountain 2010

Done with Rooster Mountain, great stages, great time hanging out. My shooting didn’t feel all that great (look at stage 7). But overall, I shot a B-class score. Apparently others found the match challenging as well.

The results are here. Here’s my performance.
